Our Mission

The only rule and norm which the Apostolic Lutheran Church of Hockinson, WA upholds is the prophetic and apostolic Scriptures of the Old and New Testament. They stand alone as the inspired Word of God. Other creeds and writings are not judges like the Holy Scripture but are testimonies and declarations of faith in them. Therefore, we hold the Book of Concord as such and in so doing the distinction between the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testament and all other writings is preserved. Any preaching and teaching are to be evaluated and judged accordingly.

Ephesians 2: 8-10

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Our Pastors

Paul Matson
Paul MatsonSenior Pastor
Pastor Paul was born and raised in the Hockinson Apostolic Lutheran Church. In 1982 he moved to New Hampshire where he attended the New Ipswich Apostolic Lutheran Church. There he met and married his wife, Cheryl. While there, God blessed them with the first two of their seven children. In 1989 they moved back here to his home congregation where he served as a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, and assistant minister. In April of 2021 Paul was called into the office of the Pastor.
Phil Wilson
Phil WilsonAssociate Pastor
Pastor Phil was born and raised in Minnesota as a PK (preacher’s kid), moved west as a young man, and began attending the Hockinson ALC. There he served as a church board member and Sunday School superintendent until he was called to be a preacher of the gospel in 1997, serving in an assistant minister position. In 2006 Phil was called by the Hockinson congregation to the office of a pastor and has served as Pastor since that time. He and his wife Gwen have six children and 20 grandchildren.
